Treehouse and Ostrich House: Unique Lodgings on Lush Acreage
This 500-acre fruit plantation is home to two unique getaways located in fields of dragon fruit, mango, pomegranate and citrus. One home is a reclaimed wood, open-air Eco Treehouse for four nestled in the mango canopy. The other is dubbed Ostrich House, a newly renovated three-bedroom cottage where resident ostriches graze around the ample outdoor patio and contemporary, multi-paned windows line every wall.
A lush fruit orchard in the shadow of Mt. Kenya, zigzagged by trees heavy with mangos and citrus, pomegranate and avocados, features two unique residences. Both are wildly adventurous, yet undeniably comfortable locations, unique getaways offering on-site activities that are also easily accessible to abundant regional tourism destinations.
Way up high in the mango trees, there’s a dreamy thatched roofed perch with serious Swiss Family Robinson vibes, built entirely of reclaimed olive wood, with a 180-degree view of the Aberdare range from its vast dining deck. In another corner of the property, where ostriches roam, a spacious contemporary cottage occupies a single rambling story and features a lush gardenscape outside every window and a grapevine-laden pergola for outdoor relaxation.
AROUND
Activities on the 500-acre working farm include hiking, biking and fishing, as well as exploring the vast plantations of dragon fruit, mango, avocado, pomegranate and citrus. Private dams on the property and a river make for ideal fishing holes.
This vacation home rental in Kenya is located in the shadow of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare Range, and within easy reach of outdoor activities such as white water rafting in Sagana, visits to Castle Forest Lodge and Chania Falls, and exploration of the Ragati Forest.
The homes make an ideal base for adventuring into the Northern Circuit, the country’s most off-the-beaten-track safari getaway, with Samburu, Buffalo Springs, Shaba and Laikipia all a part of these wildlife-filled reserves within the Ewaso ecosystem. Elephant and lions frequent the Samburu riverside, cheetah favor the area’s plains, and the riverine forest is home to over 400 species of birds and the preferred habitat for leopards.
